Professional Biography
Dr. Melanie Sberna Hinojosa, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Outcomes and Policy within the College of Medicine and a faculty member of the Institute for Child Health Policy at the University of Florida.
Dr. Hinojosa is a sociologist who specializes in racial and ethnic disparities in health outcomes. Dr. Hinojosa’s recent work focuses on the mental and behavioral health outcomes of children with special health care needs. Specifically she is working on developing health literacy interventions for racially and ethnically diverse children and adolescents with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and their families to improve treatment engagement. Her other research interests are military families and child mental health, family caregiving, health risk assessments for adolescents, and risk behaviors in children with ADHD.
