“Accelerating Cancer Research Through Innovative Research Methods and Emerging Data Sources.”

Tuesday, December 6

Clinical and Translational Research Building
Room 3161/3162, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.

During this seminar, Richard Moser, Ph.D., will discuss several pertinent trends in research that are accelerating scientific discovery and supporting knowledge synthesis using examples from cancer-focused behavioral research. These issues include ontology development, data harmonization, and data integration. He will discuss publicly available NIH tools and resources to support these efforts. Dr. Moser will use several applied examples to illustrate novel survey methods that allow for more rapid data collection at lower costs and how these can support data integration and comparison efforts. Dr. Moser will also discuss existing and emerging sources of data that can be used by behavioral researchers to answer novel questions about health-related outcomes. Lastly, funding mechanisms to support measure development and integrative data analysis will also be presented.
